Administrative Roles and Contribution

  1. Dean, Executive Graduate Programs and Consultancy, June 2020-August 2021: During this period, I promoted a strong academics in executive programs, organized a CEO talk series, and enhanced students’ engagement during COVID period. The numbers of admissions were increased and signed MoUs with several companies. I have created a forum called SELF-Spirituality for executives and a leadership forum wherein we have invited almost 15 CEOs and CMDs from private and public sector companies. I also organized a conference on transforming self and transforming organizations is equal to transforming nation. I also organized sports and cultural activities on 15th August, 26th January and 2nd October, 5th September, etc. and organized a case study competition on business ethics. I am happy to be actively associated with more than 1000 alumni from executive programs. They are an amazing group of participants and they deeply appreciate my efforts.
  2. Director, Institute of Management Studies Ghaziabad, June 2018 – February 2019: During my tenure with IMS, I learned a lot about the administration and strongly believe in the role of a leader in transforming institutions. If a leader has a vision, then you can turn around things in the favor of your people. I created a positive work culture for faculty members and then they actively led the process of institutional development. I used to share with my colleagues that your job is to make the institute to grow and my job is to look after your well-being. I would like to share the following change initiatives.
    (1) Restructuring – I appointed five Deans and Associate Deans and empowered them to take new initiatives.
    (2)
Strategic change – Introduced a new PGPM (AICTE approved) in Data Analytics and implemented PGPM-IB and Developed a training calendar and conducted more than 10 MDPs. No MDP was done before and after in IMS.
    (3)
Academic Process –Purchased a pack of Harvard Cases and introduced a new faculty feedback system with more transparency, and an effective examination system.
    (4)
Cultural Change – Regular tea meeting from 2.45 to 3.15 PM and Friday Research Seminar Series.
    (5)
Policy Framework – Introduced a new research and MDP policy.
    (6)
New Institutional Values – Emphasized on practicing humility, forgiveness, gratitude, and team spirit.
    (7)
Reward and recognition scheme for committed and high-performing staff on 15th Aug and 2nd October.
    (8)
Better salary structure for staff and faculties.
    (9)
Hired faculty members with degrees from IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIFM Bhopal, BITS Pilani, IIFT etc.
    (10)
Career advancement – Promoted 7 Associate Professor to professor level and 4 Assistant to Associate level
    (11)
Internationalization – we started developing a close relationship with few good American and European universities for faculty and student exchange.
Overall, I learned that directors should focus on attracting talent and should create a culture of people development to retain them. Then see what people can do. But focus should be on merit, merit, and merit.
  3. Chairman, Executive Part-Time Program in Management December 2014- May 2018: I took over this program when it was not performing well and developed a strategy of “integration” to transform the part-time executive program. I have successfully integrated executive participants from six running batches with NMP students and alumni, and integration with full-time students, faculty members, and staff members. I have created a voluntary forum on start-up MDI (Megaminds) to promote entrepreneurship among the executive students and implemented structural and cultural change in this program. I have created another voluntary forum called MDI Reminiscence to connect our current executive students with alumni located in NCR. I organized their family get-together from 2015-to 2019. These efforts led to the growth in the number of students’ enrollment in executive program and brand perception was enhanced.
  4. Chairman, Student Affairs, 2016-2017. I took the initiative to connect full-time PGP programs and executive programs with a vision of “One MDI”. MDI has 6 full-time programs but they are disconnected among themselves. I organized TV shows at the MDI campus with DD News and Zee Business.
  5. Area Chair – Department of Human Behavior and Organization Development 2009-2012 and 2014-2018. I used to conduct monthly area meetings with almost 10 area colleagues.
  6. Chairman, Management Development Programs, 2017-2018. I focused on new client development.
  7. Coordinator, Executive Part-time Management Program at Management Development Institute (2008 – 2009).

My Administrative vision

In my view, any institution should have a strong academic work culture that consists of appreciation and mutual respect for each other’s academic contributions. Most academic institutions suffer because of the egoistic behavior of the head of the institution. Being a professor of OB, I can work on the culture-building of the institution. I have a strong faith in four beliefs and values; (1) humility (2) team spirit (3) forgiveness and (4) gratitude.

Further, I taught at Aarhus University, Denmark for 12 years, and also taught at University of Free State, South Africa, and IULM University, Italy and had been a visiting researcher to Lancaster, UK, Verona, Italy, and Madrid, Spain, and also conducted MDPs in collaboration with Australian and European Business Schools. Hence, I can work on strengthening international collaborations for faculty and students exchange.

Also, I am an excellent MDP trainer. I have conducted more than 100 programs and trained more than 15000 participants from public and private sector organizations and dealt with CEOs to government officials. I can work and develop MDPs and can bring business to this institute.

I have good networking across industries, academics, and also at the global level. I can bring mentors for various areas and help faculty members to grow professionally.
